Purebred heritage livestock, pasture-raised meat and eggs, hatching eggs, and handmade farm goods from a conservation-focused Indiana farm.
Heritage Meadows Farm LLC is a family-run farm focused on conserving rare and endangered heritage livestock and poultry breeds. The farm has been operating since late 2012, functioning as a mating-to-market operation where all animals are born and raised on-site. It offers purebred breeding stock and feeder animals, pasture-raised meat (pork, lamb, chicken, duck, and goose), eggs, hatching eggs, and handmade farm goods under its Homemade by Heritage Meadows line. The farm also offers heirloom vegetable and flower seeds and mentorship programs for aspiring homesteaders and livestock guardian dog owners. Heritage Meadows Farm received a Slow Food Indy Snail of Approval in 2016 and was named Grit Magazine's Homesteaders of the Year in 2014. Learn more on their About Page.
Heritage Meadows Farm raises its animals on a pasture-based system, allowing them to roam outside in fresh air and sunshine. Animals are fed locally grown, non-GMO grains and are raised without antibiotics, hormones, or artificial herbicides, pesticides, or fertilizers. Medications are used when animals are ill or to prevent disease or parasites. The farm's pastures include both perennial and annual plants to provide diverse forage. All breeds raised are purebred registered heritage breeds listed on the Livestock Conservancy, and the farm does not raise crossbred livestock or hybrid plants. Heritage Meadows Farm is a National Poultry Improvement Plan (NPIP) participant.
