Health & Happiness Farms is a USDA Certified Organic farm growing tropical and subtropical fruits alongside sprouted greens on roughly fifteen acres in Homestead's Redland district. Founded in 1992 by Sal Santelli and Theresa Correra, the farm began with mamey and longan and has since expanded to one of the broadest certified-organic tropical fruit offerings in the region. Seasonal varieties include mamey, sapodilla, avocado, longan, lychee, mango, jackfruit, caimito, guanabana, rollinia, coconut, and many more. The farm also grows organic sprouted greens: pea shoots, sunflower shoots, and wheatgrass. Health & Happiness Farms describes itself as the largest provider of certified organic mamey and sapodilla in Homestead, Florida. Fruit is available wholesale to distributors and direct to the public.
Health & Happiness Farms has operated under USDA National Organic Program guidelines since 2006 and received full organic certification in 2009, verified through Quality Certification Services. The farm also holds GlobalG.A.P. certification. Weed management relies entirely on line-trimming, deep mulching, and horizontal tree training to shade the soil rather than cultivating it. Fertility comes primarily from on-site sources: all tree waste is chipped and redistributed beneath the trees, untreated chips from local timber processing supplement on-site material, and all leaf litter is retained in tree rows. These native fertility inputs are supplemented with OMRI-listed hydrolyzed fish emulsion, kelp meal, and custom-blended pelletized fertilizers, all within USDA NOP standards. Pest management prioritizes soil biome health first; trees are intercropped in one-to-two-acre divisions to limit the spread of disease and non-beneficial organisms.
