Four Mile River Farm

Four Mile River Farm's cattle graze on pastures belonging to a neighboring farm in Lyme, CT, and are fed hay cut from those same pastures when cold weather sets in. A New England-milled grain is added to supplement nutrients and support fat development for proper aging of the beef. Pigs are raised in outdoor, open-air shelters on deep wood-chip bedding that lets them root freely; they are fed only a high-quality New England grain with no table scraps or garbage. Pasture-raised poultry are brooded on the farm from hatch day, then moved to mobile coops that are rotated daily to give the birds fresh access to grass and forage. All livestock and poultry are harvested under USDA inspection before returning to the farm's own cut facility.
