Grass-fed lamb shares, pasture-raised beef shares, and tallow skincare from a regenerative Texas ranch.
Farmer Ranch raises 100% grass-fed lamb and pasture-raised, grain-finished beef on a regenerative farm southeast of Dallas. Its lamb herd consists of Royal White hair sheep, a meat-focused hybrid combining White Dorper and St. Croix genetics. Lamb and beef are sold by the share, custom-cut and dry-aged in coordination with the ranch's processor. Farmer Ranch also produces tallow skincare items, including a tallow cream and a lip balm, rendered from the lamb and beef it raises. Products are made in small batches on the ranch. Farmer Ranch uses rotational grazing with a custom electric fencing approach developed on the farm, incorporating adjusted wire spacing and electrical variables to make frequent pasture relocation practical. Pastures are mowed to encourage forage growth rather than relying on routine herbicide use for weed management. The lamb herd's forage diet includes leaves from woody species in addition to grasses. Animals are vaccinated with a standard CD&T vaccine, typically at weaning. Herd health is monitored routinely, and deworming decisions for sheep are guided by Famacha scoring; when deworming is required, the ranch uses practices aimed at minimizing the risk of parasiticide resistance. Animals are weaned late to support earlier growth stages, and low-stress handling strategies are used throughout the animals' lives, including during transport to the processor.
