Aquaponics greenhouse farm growing lettuce year-round, with a farm stand, subscriptions, and wholesale.
Emerge Aquaponics is a greenhouse farm operating out of a 22,000-square-foot facility in Black Forest, Colorado. It grows lettuce year-round using aquaponic systems, offering varieties including Spring Mix (Butterhead, Red Oakleaf, and Endive), Butterhead Bibb, and Romaine Mix. Customers can purchase directly from the on-site farm stand, order ahead online, or subscribe for recurring pickup with a discount. Wholesale customers receive same-day-harvest delivery. The farm also participates in a seasonal farmers market. Each month, Emerge Aquaponics donates over 7,000 heads of lettuce to local food pantries and food relief organizations through its "Lettuce Help Our Neighbor" program. The farm holds the Colorado Proud designation. Learn more on their About Page.
Emerge Aquaponics grows all of its lettuce inside a greenhouse using closed-loop aquaponic systems, which the farm states use 90% less water and 75% less energy than traditional farming. The aquaponic method cycles water continuously through the system without flushing, and delivers nutrients directly to plant root systems, allowing for denser planting and larger harvests. The systems produce both leafy greens and fish. Lettuce is harvested to order, with wholesale orders fulfilled on the same day as harvest.
