Apiary
Closed
Raw wildflower and forest honey from a chemical-free apiary in the Texas Hill Country.
Dunsmore Honey is a family-run apiary on a homestead along the eastern edge of Edwards Plateau in New Braunfels, Texas. Jason Dunsmore began beekeeping in 2014 and, with support from the San Marcos Bee Wranglers, developed a chemical-free approach to managing the hives. Amy Dunsmore holds a master's degree in ecology and evolutionary biology and brings a background in animal behavior and environmental advocacy to the operation. The two run the apiary together with their children. Honey and other apiary products are available through an online shop and at local farmers markets. Learn more on their About Page.
Dunsmore Honey practices chemical-free beekeeping, using no antibiotics, pesticides, or other chemical treatments in the hives or around the apiary. The bees forage on wild, native plants across rural woodland and meadows where wildflowers, oak, ashe juniper, and elm trees grow. Because the bees draw from two overlapping ecoregions, the Balcones Canyonlands edge of Edwards Plateau and the western edge of the Texas Blackland Prairies, the color, aroma, and flavor of each harvest can vary. Honey is hand harvested and minimally processed to retain pollen, antioxidants, vitamins, amino acids, minerals, and beneficial enzymes.
