Family-owned USDA-inspected butcher shop and meat processing facility raising Galloway-cross beef and Berkshire-cross pork.
Delta Meat and Sausage is a family-owned, USDA-inspected slaughter and meat processing facility established in 1997 by the McCollum and Pinkelman families. It operates alongside the family farm, Northwest Land and Livestock, which raises Galloway-cross beef and Berkshire-cross pork. The facility offers a full range of processing services for other Alaskan farms raising beef, pork, bison, elk, reindeer, and yak, and provides specialty game processing for big game hunters. A small on-site retail store carries smoked meats, frozen cuts, and fresh local eggs. Sides of beef and pork, as well as individual frozen steaks, roasts, and burger, are available for purchase. Delta Meat delivers to Fairbanks and arranges ground or air transport to other locations inside and outside Alaska. Learn more on their About Page.
Delta Meat and Sausage raises its beef and pork on the family's farm in Delta Junction. Cattle are grazed on summer green-grass pastures and fed high-quality brome hay in winter, with feed supplemented by locally grown ground barley. The beef have never been given growth hormones, antibiotics, or vaccinations. Diatomaceous earth is used as a natural wormer and as a natural insecticide for summer flies, and cattle receive a specially formulated free-choice salt and mineral blend. No herbicides or pesticides are used on the farm. Pork is finished on Alaskan-grown barley. The livestock is humanely raised and slaughtered, and the plant operates in full compliance with USDA regulations.
