Veteran-owned family farm offering free-range eggs, freeze-dried foods, farm tours, and pasture-raised animals.
Back Forty Farms is a veteran-owned, family-operated farm established in 2018 by the Kern family on a 42-acre property with a historic red barn and a farmhouse built in 1915, with Indian Creek running through the land. The farm raises over 300 free-roaming chickens and produces free-range eggs available in a variety of pastel shell colors. It also offers a wide range of freeze-dried products including eggs, fruits, and vegetables, as well as organic baby food and raw honey, available through its online Country Store with nationwide shipping. Visitors can book private guided farm tours, birthday parties, photography sessions, and equine therapy, and can meet chickens, goats, alpacas, horses, cows, and other animals on the property.
Back Forty Farms raises its chickens as free-range birds fed GMO-free feed; no vaccines are administered to the flock. The farm grows produce using certified organic seeds, well water with no irrigation, and no pesticides or chemicals. Ingredients served at farm dinners are sourced from the farm itself or from partner farms that follow the same organically grown and clean growing methods. Back Forty Farms is Idaho Preferred's first Homegrown By Heroes farmer veteran member, a program recognizing veteran-owned farming operations.
