Andy's Orchard is a family stone fruit farm rooted in the Santa Clara Valley since the early 1930s, when Joseph Mariani bought the Morgan Hill site. Its south-facing slope has well-drained alluvial soil, chosen for quality fruit. Andy Mariani, trained in horticultural and behavioral sciences, specializes in heirloom and specialty cherries, apricots, peaches, nectarines, and plums, all picked tree-ripened at peak flavor. Working with local hybridizers, the orchard has helped introduce distinct new varieties grown only on the property. Beyond fresh fruit, it offers dried fruit, confections (including chocolate-covered dried Blenheim apricots), jams, preserves, nuts, and gift packs. Andy's Orchard practices Integrated Pest Management (IPM), an approach that integrates all available tactics to manage pest populations while minimizing economic damage and harmful environmental effects. The farm selects fruit varieties specifically for eating quality, and all fruit is picked tree-ripened at its peak. Andy Mariani is a member of the California Cherry Advisory Board's research committee and has helped initiate research on cherry growing. He is also a noted fruit expert for the California Rare Fruit Grower's organization. The orchard grows one of the largest collections of stone fruit varieties on the West Coast, and has collaborated with local hybridizers to develop exclusive new varieties. Its owner has written extensively on why IPM and California's Sustainable Pest Management framework offer a rigorous, science-based alternative focused on producing safe, high-quality fruit.
