First-generation regenerative farm raising grass-fed beef, pasture-raised chicken, pork, and eggs in north Louisiana.
3 Board Farm is a first-generation, family-owned regenerative farm in Downsville, Louisiana, operated by the Underwood family. The farm began in 2018 with the goal of raising nutrient-rich, humanely raised food. It produces grass-fed beef, pasture-raised broiler chickens, forest-raised pork, and pasture-raised eggs. Cuts of beef are available individually or in half and whole hanging-weight quantities. Chicken is sold as whole birds or broken down into cuts, including organs. Pork is available in a wide range of cuts, from smoked bacon and sausage to ribs, roasts, and tenderloin. Products can be found through select local retail partners as well as directly from the farm. 3 Board Farm raises all animals using regenerative farming practices, with a stated primary goal of building healthy soil. Broiler chickens are raised in mobile coops and moved to fresh forage on a rotating basis, with no hormones or antibiotics used. Laying hens are kept in a mobile coop on pasture, where they forage, scratch, and fertilize the land. Cattle are raised exclusively on a grass diet, kept on pasture at all times, and managed with rotational grazing, free of hormones and antibiotics. Pigs are raised in the woods behind the farm's pasture, where they root for bugs, wallow, and rotate through wooded areas, also without hormones or antibiotics. The farm's approach aims to mimic natural animal behavior across all species it raises.
