Urban education and production farm offering fresh produce, garden plots, and seasonal Greenmarkets in West Palm Beach.
Westgate Community Farm is a one-acre urban education and production farm established in 2015 on land owned by the Westgate Community Redevelopment Agency, in an area identified by the USDA as a food desert. The farm grows a wide range of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, and makes produce available through seasonal weekly Greenmarkets as well as a mobile market that delivers to residents. It also offers rentable garden plots and serves as a green space open to neighbors. Westgate Community Farm accepts SNAP/EBT payments and participates in Feeding Florida's Fresh Access Bucks (FAB) program, which doubles SNAP benefits toward Florida-grown produce. Education and engagement are central to its work, with workshops, field trips, mentorship, volunteer days, and apprenticeship opportunities offered on site.
Westgate Community Farm's managers are dedicated to regenerative and organic farming practices, with the goal of building healthy soil and creating habitat for diverse plants, pollinators, and wildlife. The farm grows its produce without synthetic chemicals. It participates in the USDA's Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) and is one of a small number of partner markets in Palm Beach County enrolled in Feeding Florida's Fresh Access Bucks program, which doubles SNAP benefits for purchases of Florida-grown produce.
