Family-run Texas farm offering produce, Angus beef, all-natural chicken, eggs, and CSA share boxes.
Walnut Creek Farm is a family-owned and operated farm on 50 acres in Alvarado, Texas, founded in 2001 by Mark Forster after he left the corporate world. The farm grows greens, berries, tomatoes, squash, peppers, and more across six greenhouses, and also maintains a peach orchard, almond trees, and row crops including melons, carrots, onions, and potatoes. Alongside its own harvest, it sells Angus beef, hormone-free all-natural chicken, pork, eggs, honey, and pantry items such as pickles, jellies, and jams. Customers can order online for farm pickup, delivery, or pick-up at the Burleson Farmers Market and other community stops. Walnut Creek Farm also offers CSA share boxes in standard and fully customizable options, with add-ons available at a per-item cost. Learn more on their About Page.
Walnut Creek Farm uses aquaponics in its six greenhouses, a method that combines raising fish in recirculating tanks with soilless plant culture: nutrient-rich water from the fish fertilizes the plants, and the plants help purify the water for the fish. All crops are hand-planted to minimize impact on the soil. The farm states it is free of pesticides, fungicides, and GMO crops, adhering to the standards of organic farming. For produce it does not grow itself, it partners with Texas farms that it has visited and verified as using the same growing methods and/or being organic. Vegetables in CSA shares are harvested the day before delivery, or within the same week.
