Tropical produce, compost, and farm equipment hire from a 3.7-acre working farm in Waimanalo.
Wailupe Farms LLC is a 3.7-acre farm on Oahu that has been growing tropical produce since 2011. The farm was established on land previously overtaken by invasive trees; rather than hauling the debris away, the founders chipped the biomass and incorporated it back into the soil to restore degraded land. Wailupe Farms grows lilikoi, turmeric, breadfruit (ulu), tomatoes, cucumbers, cacao, and cut flowers including silver dollar eucalyptus. It also offers custom growing arrangements, organic compost sales in retail and wholesale quantities, and farm equipment hire. Products are available at the Waimanalo Market, local Oahu farmers markets, and through direct orders. The farm is expanding into microgreens using hydroponic grow towers inside a new greenhouse. Wailupe Farms avoids synthetic pesticides, prioritizing soil health, beneficial insects, and natural pest management. The farm uses a circular approach to land stewardship: invasive tree biomass was chipped and returned to the earth to rebuild degraded soil, and the farm continues to run closed-loop composting systems designed to feed the land from within. Organic compost produced on-site is also sold to the broader Oahu community. The farm describes its methods as organic and sustainable, with a focus on pest management and soil health.
