Certified organic farm offering CSA shares, farmers market produce, and farm education in the Chattahoochee Hill Country.
Serenbe Farms is a certified organic farm located within the Serenbe community in the Chattahoochee Hill Country, about 30 miles southwest of Atlanta. Farming since 2004, it cultivates 10 acres and is in the process of restoring an additional 15 acres of land. The farm has grown over 300 varieties of heirloom and hybrid vegetables, herbs, and flowers, harvesting more than 60,000 lbs of produce a year. It markets its goods primarily through a Community Supported Agriculture (CSA) program, with weekly organic farm shares available to members. Produce is also available at the Serenbe Farmers Market and supplied to several local restaurants. Serenbe Farms also offers farm tours, kids workshops, and volunteer opportunities, with a mission to provide nourishing food, hands-on education, and connection through farming. Serenbe Farms holds USDA organic certification, first certified in 2004 by Quality Certification Services (QCS), and renews its certification each year. It is one of only a small number of certified organic farms in Georgia and is a member of Georgia Organics. The farm's approach centers on three core methods: composting, cover cropping, and crop rotation. Compost is made on-site from vegetable scraps contributed by community members and local restaurants. Cover cropping involves growing grasses and legumes that are incorporated back into the soil as organic matter. Crop rotation disrupts pest and disease cycles and prevents nutrient depletion. The farm also uses drip irrigation and mulches to minimize water usage, and applies conservation tillage across its fields. Soil health, including nutrient balance and mineral content, is a guiding focus of its growing practices.
