Organically grown CSA vegetables, heritage Red Wattle pork, pasture-raised eggs, and raw honey from a 30-acre farm.
Rustic Road Farm is a 30-plus-acre working farm founded in 2011 by Marc and Luis Bernard in Elburn, Illinois. Marc brings a background as an executive chef, and the pair started from scratch on a five-acre property before expanding to their current scale. The farm offers a weekly CSA program featuring organically grown fruits and vegetables, with share pickup available at the farmstand or at area farmers markets. In addition to produce, the farm raises heritage Red Wattle pigs, F1 Wagyu cattle, Katahadin sheep, free-range chickens, and goats, and keeps several beehives. Whole and half Red Wattle hogs are available seasonally, and a year-round farmstand carries eggs, honey, and pork cuts including bacon, chops, and sausage. Learn more on their About Page.
Rustic Road Farm describes its CSA fruits and vegetables as organically grown. Eggs come from pasture-raised chickens, and the farm also offers pasture-raised chicken meat at various times of year. The Red Wattle hog is listed by the Livestock Conservancy as a threatened heritage breed; the farm raises the breed deliberately to support its survival. Pigs are supplemented with produce grown on the farm. Several hoop houses extend the growing season year-round. Whole and half hogs are processed at Eickman's processing and made available for pickup at the farm.
