100% grass-fed and grass-finished beef, sold by the whole, half, or quarter from a closed-herd ranch in the Bulkley Valley.
Lemieux Creek Ranch is a family-run beef operation in the Bulkley Valley, now in its 18th season under owners Justin and Alicia Wisselink, who bring over three decades of combined farming and animal care experience. The ranch raises primarily Black Angus cattle with Galloway genetics, prized for their ability to finish on grass and alfalfa pastures. Beef is sold by the whole, half, or quarter in limited quantities, with advance orders encouraged. Animals are harvested between 17 and 22 months of age, and the meat is dry-aged for 10 days before being professionally cut and wrapped. The ranch also offers 100% grass-fed cooking tallow and a tallow skin care cream. Learn more on their About Page.
Lemieux Creek Ranch maintains a closed herd, meaning no animals are introduced from other farms or cattle markets. Cattle are raised entirely on grass and forage with no antibiotics, growth hormones, animal by-products, or grain. From May to November, cattle graze open rolling pastures and drink water pumped from Lemieux Creek; in winter they are fed outside with windbreaks and high-quality hay and silage. Animals are moved between pastures in low-stress ways and are never confined to small, crowded pens. The ranch follows proAction animal care and environmental standards, holds a BC Environmental Farm Plan designation (completed in 2015), and participates in the Verified Beef Production program, a Canadian on-farm food safety program with annual audits. It is also a member of the Bulkley Valley Cattlemen's Association.
