Happy Pig Organic Farm is a family-owned certified organic operation on 320 acres in the Bulkley Valley. The farm produces pork, beef, chicken, turkey, lamb, eggs, and grain. It has held organic certification since 2008 and supplies customers across a broad stretch of northwest British Columbia. Cuts are available individually or as mixed farm packs, and the farm's sausages are made with pork and organic herbs and spices, with no gluten, dairy, or nitrates. Feed grains are milled on the farm weekly.
Happy Pig Organic Farm holds PACS organic certification and raises all animals on pasture in season. In winter, animals are kept in well-lit structures with ample straw. The farm mills its own feed grain on-site each week. Animals are given space to exercise natural behaviours: pigs root, chickens scratch and peck. Sows wean their piglets at 10 to 14 weeks rather than early separation, and laying hens are allowed to moult rather than being replaced. No chemical fertilizers, fungicides, herbicides, or pharmaceuticals are used in raising the animals, crops, forage, or feed grains.
