Small family farm and ranch raising pigs, chickens, turkey, rabbit, and heritage eggs in Amador County.
Jones Family Farm & Ranch is a small family-run operation on a 160-acre property in Amador County, situated about 8 miles outside of Sutter Creek at 2,700 feet elevation. Owners Erik and Brian Jones purchased the ranch in July 2020 with a mission to raise livestock sustainably and responsibly for their local community. The farm sells heritage eggs by the dozen, free-range whole chickens, free-range heritage turkey, rabbit, and pork. Pork is offered as whole or partial live-animal shares: buyers purchase a live pig, the farm delivers it to a butcher, and the buyer works directly with the butcher to customize cuts, smoking, and curing. Live piglets and Gloucestershire Old Spot sire services round out the farm's offerings. Learn more on their About Page.
Jones Family Farm & Ranch raises all its animals with a stated commitment to humane and sustainable practices. Egg-laying hens, roosters, and meat birds are free-range, with ample space to roam. Heritage turkeys are raised free-range on the farm. The farm describes its animals as raised by hand, and says it ensures every animal has the best possible life regardless of its purpose. Because of its small scale, the operation falls under California's exemption from USDA inspection for chicken and rabbit; pork is handled through a live-animal purchase model so buyers arrange custom processing with a butcher of their choice.
