Micro-farm growing vegetables and cut flowers for local restaurants and CSA members in southern New Hampshire.
Hip Peas Farm is a one-acre micro-farm on a 5.5-acre plot in Hooksett, NH, founded in 2017 by Dan Lagueux, who also owns New England's Tap House & Grille. The farm grows a wide range of vegetables, including lettuce mixes, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, Swiss chard, radishes, beets, spinach, and pea tendrils, along with 27 varieties of cut flowers. Produce and flowers supply New England's Tap House Grille, Oscar Barn Venue, and other local restaurants. The farm has also offered a CSA membership program. A historic riverfront farmhouse on the property is available for short-term rental through Airbnb. Learn more on their About Page.
Hip Peas Farm uses no synthetic pesticides or fertilizers. Pest, weed, and disease management relies on working with natural plant processes rather than chemical inputs. The farm employs minimal-tillage systems to support soil health and reduce invasive weeds, uses high tunnels to reduce disease pressure, and introduces natural predators to manage unwanted insects. Clean compost is regularly added to the soil. The flower growing program mirrors these values: Enya Vanasse grows all 27 flower varieties from seed by hand, without chemical pesticides or herbicides. The farm also retrieves vegetable scraps from local restaurants to compost back into its soils.
