Single-boat, family-run wild seafood fishery offering salmon, shrimp, sablefish, lingcod, and rockfish from Southeast Alaska.
Fairweather Fish is a husband-and-wife-owned and operated commercial fishing business based in Sitka, Alaska. Caleb and Jess Robbins, along with a small crew, fish aboard their 52' vessel, the F/V Fairweather, spending roughly seven months each year on the waters of Southeast Alaska. The business is a first-generation operation built on three generations of Alaska fishing heritage. Fairweather Fish runs a community-supported fishery model, offering pre-order boxes of wild-caught salmon, shrimp, sablefish, lingcod, and rockfish to individual families, restaurants, and small retailers. The entire catch comes from a single boat, making each purchase fully traceable to one source. Learn more on their About Page.
Each fish is individually landed, headed, gutted, IV bled, and placed in a power blast freezer aboard the boat within an hour of leaving the ocean. This blast-frozen-at-sea method locks in flavor and texture, halts bacteria and histamine accumulation, and gives Fairweather Fish complete control over the product chain. Fish are not mixed with other fishermen's catch: the crew fills their own shipping containers, applies their own labels, and tracks each shipment to the lower 48. The primary harvest method is hook and line, which the business uses to minimize bruising, scale loss, and quality degradation during landing. Fairweather Fish describes its seafood as sustainably harvested and wild from Alaska.
