Saskatchewan farm and butcher shop offering grass-fed beef, pastured poultry, forest-raised pork, lamb, eggs, and fermented foods.
Cool Springs Grassfed Butchery is a family-run farm and on-farm butcher shop in Endeavour, Saskatchewan. The operation grew out of a multi-generational connection to mixed farming in the area, shaped by influences including Holistic Management training and the Weston A. Price Foundation's approach to traditional food. The farm raises grass-fed beef and lamb, pastured chickens, free-range turkeys, and forest-raised pork, and produces pastured eggs. Beyond meat, it offers traditionally fermented foods, local raw honey, organs and bones, smokehouse sausage and deli items, and raw pet food. The farm built its own health-inspected abattoir, with the first animal processed in the on-farm meat shop in 2010. Products are available through an online store with scheduled pickup locations. Cool Springs Grassfed Butchery raises its animals on pasture, with planned rotational grazing used to manage the land holistically. Cattle and lambs are grass-fed; chickens and turkeys are pastured; and pork is forest-raised. The farm uses preventative practices and natural health care methods in place of routine pharmaceuticals. Grazing land is managed to support diverse, nutrient-dense forage with the stated goal of restoring soil health. Animals are given space to roam and graze in their natural environment. The farm operates its own health-inspected on-farm butcher shop, processing animals directly rather than sending them to a distant facility.
