Overview
Farm-grown organic produce, eggs, dairy, and coffee at a family bodega in Socorro, Texas.
Bodega Loya is a family-run farm stand in Socorro, Texas, owned by Ralph and Marty Loya, whose families have farmed for generations. Marty grew up on the 100-year-old farm where the bodega now operates, and Ralph converted an original adobe shed and tool room into the retail space. The farm grows a wide variety of fruits, vegetables, and herbs, with all produce raised following certified organic practices on the farmland directly behind the bodega. Customers can watch their food being harvested straight from the ground and trees. In addition to farm-grown produce, the bodega carries locally sourced duck and chicken eggs, as well as fresh butter and cheese from Licon Dairy. Bodega Loya also operates Cafecito, an on-site coffee and fresh juice bar.
All fruits and vegetables sold at Bodega Loya are grown following certified organic practices on the farmland located directly behind the store. Eggs are locally sourced from other farmers, and fresh butter and asadero cheese come from Licon Dairy, a local dairy. Plant-based cheese from The Green Ingredient is also stocked. The bodega accepts SNAP cards and offers a 50% discount on produce for SNAP card holders. Bodega Loya donates a portion of its produce to the El Pasoans Fighting Hunger Food Bank and to the El Paso Zoo for animal feeding.
